TRUDY BROOKS -BIO

Trudy Brooks lived in Millmerran, with her husband and two sons in the 1980s. Her husband, Ian was principal of the Millmerran State School and well as president of the Millmerran Arts Council.

During her time in Millmerran Trudy, enjoyed painting with fellow local arts Vivienne Heckles and Ann Armstrong. She attended workshops held by the Flying Art Alliance and the University of Southern Queensland. She won several prizes at both the Millmerran and Pittsworth shows. These prizes included the Wyn Saal trophy for best local artwork. Trudy’s paintings of local scenes were popular and some may still be hanging in homes in the district.

Since leaving Millmerran when her husband was transferred, Trudy has continued with her art. At present she is a member of the Redcliffe Art Society, The Bribie Island Community Art Centre as well as the Dayboro Art Gallery where she regularly exhibits her art. For the last two years, Trudy has been tutoring watercolour for the Redcliffe Art Society.

Over the years Trudy has expanded the range of media that she uses in her work. As well as oils, acrylics and watercolour she now produces works using mixed media, alcohol inks as well as digital art.
